News from our friends at HMS Queen Elizabeth
From Commander Sean Miles, The Medical Officer, on board HMS Queen Elizabeth
“I hope you are both well and that the rest of the club’s members are also well and that the New Year has been great so far?
We are back at sea and currently off the east coast of Scotland conducting flying training and carrier qualifications both with 824 Naval Air Squadron operating Merlin Helicopters and with 207 Sqn which is the F35B Operational Conversion Unit. Both these squadrons train new pilots and Observers, Aircrewman and Engineers for flight line roles.
We have also had a 40% changeover of personnel on the ship and so we are spending a considerable amount of time training in preparation for operational sea training planned for May/Jun 20. We are due to be at sea for the next 2 weeks and then will be alongside again in Portsmouth and undergo more engineering work for the following two months.
We are currently planning some visit days for all our affiliates and we will be having several meetings with our new Commanding Officer who is keen to meet you all over the next 6 months and so I will be in touch in the next few weeks with some of our ideas.”
