11/12 June 2022 - Thruxton Historic

RREC Wessex has been invited to have a club display at Thruxton, which is the fastest racing circuit in the UK, and is handily located for all points of our Section.

Our Secretary Steve Wilks would like to know who would be interested in taking part in this event on one or both days. As well as the exciting historic car racing, there is a large assemblage of classic cars present and there are lots of additional benefits being offered by the circuit including half price tickets for members.

It would be great to have a really good display of our Bentley and Rolls-Royce motor cars and a great advertisement for our marques and for RREC Wessex Section.

To register your interest and get further info please contact Steve at secretary@rrecwessex.org.uk

Sun 19 June - Father’s Day at Highcliffe Castle, Dorset   A welcome return to a popular event postponed in 2021 due to Covid
Bookings now open: Highcliffe 2022 flyer and booking form

Wednesday 22 June - Exclusive invitation - Nr Corfe Castle, Dorset

Try to make this stunning privately owned venue if you possibly can set within a dramatic fold of the Purbeck Hills. From the summit you can actually look down on Corfe Castle. And the drive down to the spectacular Georgian property is quite something. We have free range over the grounds which reach down to a stunning coastline as well as ornamental gardens developed since 2009 by noted landscape architect and eight times Chelsea Gold Medal Winner Tom Stuart-Smith. Among his other work is a new garden at Windsor Castle, the two hectare garden at Wisley around the Bicentennial Glasshouse and also creating the overall plan for the new RHS Garden at Bridgewater near Greater Manchester.

Charles Rolls Heritage Sculpture Unveiling

Our very good friend Stephen Robson of the Charles Rolls Heritage Trust has asked us if RREC Wessex Section members could provide Rolls-Royce motor vehicles for this unique and historic event. The venue is adjacent to the Hiker Cafe at Hengisbury Head, Broadway, Southbourne, Bournemouth. BH6 4EW.

Soon after completing the first two way flight across the English Channel Rolls lost his life near to this spot at Britain’s first International Aviation Meeting in July 1910.

Stephen Robson would like a distinguished selection of Rolls-Royce models, especially earlier ones, to provide a suitable display of the Rolls-Royce cars that bear his name.

The event will replace this year's annual commemoration but will follow the style of previous years with the key unveiling at 12.50. The nearby St Nicholas Church Hall, previously used in 2016, has been booked from 13.15 which has an open area for your cherished PMCs. The area is suitable for picnics although there will be a limited buffet available. A relevant talk will start in the Hall at 14.30.

Whilst the event is 'open', the display area is small and behind a security gate so if you are interested in taking part in this unrepeatable and prestigious event please contact Stephen Robson at stephen.robson10@btopenworld.com or telephone 01202 300763
